Individual Counseling

We tell you about the

Benefits of Individual Counseling

Is suitable for people with emotional difficulties, or with conflicts that are difficult for them to resolve, such as controlling their mood, reducing anxiety, controlling stress, anger, etc.
The objective is to promote the mental and emotional strengthening of the person to face life in healthier ways. Allow greater understanding and knowledge of himself, his environment and the relationships he establishes with it.

We will begin by working on the therapeutic relationship and analyzing their history to find out the problem to be solved and decide which technique is best suited to work with.

What techniques do we use in this therapy?

EMDR Therapy

Will help you enhance your brain’s natural healing ability to process memories that interfere with your self-confidence, self-esteem, and create a negative self-concept. In addition, this technique will help you clear negative thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations that are related to the past and are affecting you in the present.

Do you need a psychological evaluation?

Carla Parola is the Founder and CEO of Carla Parola Counseling and the Founder and Creator of Impacto Migrante. A bilingual mental health professional originally from Argentina and an immigrant herself, she has more than 20 years of experience in mental health and a Master’s degree focused on Trauma, Abuse, and Deprivation. She obtained her independent license in Arizona in 2015 and is currently professionally licensed in ten U.S. states.

Her work is primarily focused on immigration psychological evaluations, clinical supervision, training and workshop development, and organizational consulting, with particular attention to migration-related trauma, family separation, and the mental health of immigrant communities. Carla no longer provides individual therapy; psychotherapy at Carla Parola Counseling is provided by the other clinicians on the team.

As an immigration psychological evaluator, she has completed hundreds of evaluations for asylum, VAWA, U Visa, T Visa, extreme hardship and immigration waiver cases – including I-601A -, cancellation of removal, and J-1 Waiver/I-612 cases, when applicable. She works from a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach, in both English and Spanish.

She is the creator and developer of MIMSE, a practice-informed clinical and systemic framework currently in development, designed to help understand the psychological and emotional impact of the migration experience. MIMSE is not a standardized or validated assessment instrument.

Carla is also an Arizona Board Approved Clinical Supervisor, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), an EMDR Certified Clinician, EMDR Consultant, and EMDR HAP Facilitator. She also develops trainings, workshops, and consulting services for professionals and organizations that work with immigrant populations.
